Summer Celebration
at Poliak Preserve
Saturday, August 23, 2025
4pm - 7pm
Join us pondside for this year's party at Poliak Preserve, part of the yearlong celebration of our 60th anniversary! Don’t miss another knock-em-down menu from Odeens Catering and more sweet bluegrass from The Trunk Band.
Donated mostly by Saul and Janice Poliak, the 32 lush acres of Poliak Preserve include a shady meadow, a flat half-mile loop around a pond, and a second loop through the woods. The Furlough Trail, following the Saugatuck River, leads up through the Henry and Lotte Fields Preserve to McCormack Preserve, the site of last year’s Summer Celebration.
Details and Tickets:
The menu includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
Parking will be at the Hoyt Scout Reservation, and a shuttle will take you 30 seconds down the road to Poliak Preserve. The correct entrance has a red, white, and blue mailbox marked 288; looking up the driveway you’ll see a large green sign that says Hoyt Training Center. The mailbox is about a quarter mile north of Poliak Preserve on Simpaug Turnpike. For directions on Google Maps, search “Hoyt Scout Reservation” and select the location on the road. For directions on Apple’s Maps app, search “222 Simpaug Tpke.”
Heavy rain date is Sunday, August 24, 4-7pm. This is an event for adults, and we also ask that you leave your dog at home till the next group hike! As always, close-toed shoes are a good option for this evening outdoors.
