Background (with edits by Andrea Gartner): In the 1960s, the Connecticut Highway Department spent $33 million to purchase much of the right-of-way for a proposed four-lane highway from Norwalk to Danbury. The “Super 7” project was eventually mothballed, but much of the land remains in state ownership, including parcels such as Farm Ridge Court off Picketts Ridge Road.
The Norwalk River Valley Trail (NRVT) follows much of the planned Super 7 corridor. Construction of the Redding Mile was completed in 2023, marking a major milestone for the Trail. Funding has now been secured to continue the NRVT south through Ridgefield to Route 7, while planning and routing are underway to extend the Trail north through the McCormack Preserve.
We encourage your continued support as the NRVT connects more communities along its 30-mile route. Until then, please remember that access to State land outside designated trail areas remains prohibited.
