As we celebrate 60 years of conservation, join us for a Photography Show at Mark Twain Library, celebrating Redding’s protected meadows, woodlands, wetlands, and scenic vistas throughout the seasons and times of day.

  • Submitted photographs will be evaluated by David Heald, Redding Land Trust trustee and Director of Photographic Services at the Guggenheim Museum, and Zoe Schneider, a graphic artist and photographer based in LA and raised in Redding. Evaluation of photographs will be anonymous, based solely on artistic merit.

  • First: $500

  • All photographers will be notified by April 28, 2025, of the status of their submissions. Prize winners will be notified privately during the week of May 26, 2025 and announced publicly at the reception on June 5, 2025.

  • Finalists must print accepted photographs from files of the highest possible resolution (at least 200 dpi) and frame them for hanging, with a maximum size of 24 inches in either direction, including the frame. Framed prints must be delivered to Mark Twain Library on May 31, 2025, between 11am and 2pm.

  • All finalists will have their photographs on display at the Mark Twain Library from June 5 - June 28, 2025, with previews during the hanging period on June 2 - June 4, 2025.

  • The public is invited to a free opening reception on June 5, 2025 at the Mark Twain Library, with beverages and light refreshments.

  • All framed pieces included in the Photography Show must be picked up by the photographer on June 28, 2025 at Mark Twain Library, between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. There will be a $10 handling charge for late pickups.

 
 

FAQs

  • Yes. If your photograph(s) are accepted into the show, you will have to bring them printed, framed, and ready to hang on May 31, 2025. It is not necessary to incur major expenses for printing or framing; the artistic value of your photograph is most important. Finalists will be provided with more detailed requirements and information about options such as printing at home, using ready-made frames, or working with professional printers and framers (including local shops offering discounts for the Show).

  • The maximum size is up to 24 inches in any direction, including the frame.

  • Yes, you may sell your work in the show. If you choose to offer your photograph(s) for sale, your contact details will be included next to your work, and any transaction will be conducted privately between you and the buyer; Redding Land Trust and Mark Twain Library will not be involved.
